WILL OF WILLIAM INSLEY
DORCHESTER CO., MARYLAND
OCTOBER 08 , 1766
In the Name of God Amen I William Insley of Dorchester County planter being sick and weak in Body but of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following towit
First of all I give and Bequeath unto my son William Insley all my lands except part of two tracts of land lying on the west side of the Cow well Branch the one Tract named Insley's Purchase the other Black Swamp. If my son William shall let James Todd have the part of those two tracts that lies to the westward of the Cow well Branch then my son William to have all the remainder of my lands to have and to hold to him and his Heirs to the proper use and behoof of him the said William and his Heirs and assigns though if he does or shall deny letting James Todd have the above mentioned land them my son Abraham Insley to have half of all my Lands Equally with William to have and to hold to him and his Heirs to the proper use and Behoof of him the said Abraham and his heirs and assigns
further my will and desires that my son William shall keep and guide my son Abraham while he is fifteen years of age and have him Taught to read in the Term then have him bound to a Tailers Trade for five years and taught to understand the rule of three and at the age of Twenty one for William my son to pay unto Abraham my son ?????? and if my son William shall neglect to fulfill these things on my son Abraham behalf as above written then my son Abraham shall have half of my Land as above given and if not to have none of my Land of William performs his part as I have desired. and I hereby nominate and appoint my son William Insley whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former will and wills by one heretofore made in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this eight day of October in the year of our Lord 1766

On the 16th day of February 1767 William Insley the appointed Executor in the foregoing Will made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that the foregoing instrument of writing is the true and only Will and Testament of William Insley late of Dorchester County deceased that hath come to his hand possession or Knowledge and that he did not so ever heard of any other Will made by the said Testator

On the Sixteenth day of February Anno Domini 1767 Andrew Insley and Jacob Insley two of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing Will being duly and solemnly sworn on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God ?? and said that they saw the Testator William Insley sign the foregoing Will and heard him publish and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind and memory and that they together with Benjamin Todd Junr. the other subscribing witness to the aforegoing Will subscribed their respective names as witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the Testator and at his request
