Will of Thomas Cooper

February 04, 1766
In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Cooper of Somersett County in the Provence of Maryland Being weak of Body but of perfect mind and memory calling it to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die, therefore I do recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it unto me and my Body to be buried in the Earth at the discretion of my executor Nothing Doubting but I shall receive the same at the Resurection and touching such Worldly Goods as it hath been pleased God to bless me with I leave and bequeath in the following Manner
Item I give and bequeath to my Eldest son Abraham Cooper my Dwelling Plantation and as much more of my Land ? thereto as shall make it one half of my Lands and one feather Bed and Furnitude to him and his heirs forever
Item I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Cooper the other half of my Lands and one feather Bed and Furnitude to him and his heirs forever
I leave the third part of my Lands to my beloved wife Isbel Cooper in dureing her Natrel or Transetory Life and I do leave one third part of my Moveable Estate to her and her heirs for Ever and the rest of my Moveable Estate to be eaqualy divided amongst my four children to them and their heirs for Ever and I do hereby deny and disannull and former Deeds or Wills and do allow this to be my last Will and Testament As Witness my hand and seal this 4 day of February anno 1766

August 20th 1766 Then came Iseball Cooper and made Oath on the Holy Evangelis of Almighty God that the within Instrument of writing is the true and only Will and Testament of Thomas Cooper Late of Somerset County Deceased that hath come to her hands Possession or Knowledge and that she did not know or ever heard of any Other,
Sworn Before Thos. Holbrook, Deputy Com. of Somerset County
On the 20th day of August one thousand seven hundred and Sixty six Came David Cordray one of the Subscribing Evidences and made oath on the holy Evangelis of Almighty God that he did see the Testestor Thomas Cooper sign and Seal the aforegoing Will and heard him Publish pronounce and declair the same to be his last Will and Testament and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of his approhansion of a sound disposeing mind memory and understanding and that he subscribed his name as Witness to the said Will in the presence of the said Testor and also maketh Oath that he did see Samuell Cooper & William Tulley sign their names as Witnesses to the said Will and at the same time came Samuel Cooper and William Tulley the other two Subscribing Evidences and made Oath on the holy Evangelis of Almighty God that they did see the Testator Thomas Cooper seal the aforgoing Will and heard him publish pronounce and decliar the same to be his last Will and Testament and at the time of his so doing he was to the best of each of their apprehensions of a sound disposing mind memory and understanding and that they Subscribed their names as Witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and they also made Oath they did see David Cordry sign his name as a Witness to the said Will in the presence of the said Deceased Sworn before Thos.
