WILL OF ABRAHAM TAYLOR
SOMERSET CO., MARYLAND
OCTOBER 11, 1791


In the Name of God Amen The elevnth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, I Abraham Taylor of Somerset County and State of Maryland being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the Mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament as followeth

Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Bartholemew Taylor one hundred acors of land called Taylors Chance where he now liveth and if the said Bartholemew should die without a lawfull heir then the lands shall be the property of my son Abraham Taylor to him and his heirs forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Abraham Taylor one tract of land called Mill Pond with a Saw Mill thereon, with all that appertaineth thereto, and the one half of a piece of land called Taylors Addition which was left me by my Father William Taylor and one half of fifty acors of land in a tract called Tower hill and one half of ninety seven acors in a Resevay from Towerhill and if he should die without a lawfull heir the property and lands shall belong to my son Lowdy Taylor one blue pine cubbert one black horse saddle and bridle one fetherbed and furniture to him and his heirs forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son William Taylor all that part of a tract of land called Gladstons Inventure and part of a tract of land called Hard Shift one tract of land called Locus Ridge and if the said William shold die without a lawfull heir the lands to be equally divided between Bartholomew and Abraham and Lowdy Taylor and one featherbed and furniture one black horse coalt to him and his heirs forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Lowdy Taylor my dwelling house and the other half of a tract of land called Taylors Addition and the other half of fifty acres of land called Tower Hill and the other half of ninty seven acres on a Resevay from Tower hill and if he shold die without a lawfull heir the lands shall be equielly devided between Bartholomew Taylor and Abraham Taylor and William Taylor and also my shop and blacksmith tools and featherbed and ? bay meare coalt one new walnut desk to him and his heirs forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Alley Taylor one featherbed and furniture to her and her heirs forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved daugher Betty Taylor ? new rume of my dwelling house to be her property during her single life one featherbed and furniture one sorrell meare saddle and bridle one cow nd calf to her and her heirs forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my grandaughter Poly Philips sum of seven pounds cash to be leved out of my moveable estate and no more of my estate forever -

Item I give and bequeath to my son in law Isaac Kinney one tract of land called Hardship to him and his heirs forever -

Item and it is further my desire that my executor shold secure out of my estate a tract of land called Locus Ridge left to my son William -

Item I allso leave the rest of my estate that are not already left after my just debts and funeral charges be paid to be equelly divided between Nancy Leatherburys five children to thear one childs part and Alley Taylor and Betty Taylor and Milley Kinney and Bartholomew Taylor and Abraham Taylor and William Taylor and Lowdy Taylor to them and their heirs forever -

Item and lastly I leave all my lands and livings ?? to my well beloved wife Mary Taylor to her during her naterel life and the ? to be divided as before mentioned and also I apoint my beloved wife Mary Taylor wholy and soly executor of this my last will and Testament or who she shall apoint I hereby revoke and denull all former will or wills heartofore made or done In witness where of I have hearunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written signed sealed published declared and pronounced this to be my last will and Testament

February 27th day 1792 Then came Mary Taylor and made oath upon the holy Evangels of Almighty God that the within instrument of writing is the true and whole will and Testament of Abraham Taylor late of Somerset County deceased that hath come to her hands or prossesion and that she doth not know of any other -

February the 27th day 1792 Then came John Robertson, Isaac Wright, and Levin Taylor three of the susbcribing witnesses to the within last will and Testament of Abraham Taylor late of Somerset County deceased, and severally made oath upon the holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this will, and that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament; that at the time of his so doing was to the best of each of their apprehensions of sound disposing mind memory and understanding and that they respectively subscribed their names as Witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other. And they further depose that they saw William Hobbs subscribe his name
