Will of David Williams

In the name of God Amen
This Eighth day of September One Thousand Seven hundred and Ninty four ----- 1794
I David Williams of the County of Sussex and State of Delaware being very weak in body but of perfect mind and memory do make this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following. As Touching my worldly Goods and Estate which hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I give and devise in the following manner; And first of all I give and Bequeath to my only Son David Williams to him and his heirs or assigns, all my Real and Personal Estate of Every kind whatsoever Except a Negro man named Jack which Sd Negro I hereby Manumit and Set free from the date of these presents from all Claim Right or Title of my Heirs Exec. Or Admn - - - - - and further, if son David Williams Should died before he arrives to the age of twenty one years I give & bequeath all my Real and Personal Estate to be Equally divided amongst all my Brothers & Sisters ~ ~ ~
And Further I hereby Constitute and Appoint Morgan Williams my whole and Sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament hereby utterly Revoking and disannuling all former wills and Testaments at any time heretofore by me made Rattifying this to be my Last will and Testament; And further also I do herby Nominate and appoint Morgan Williams Guardian to my son David Williams until he arrives to the age of fourteen years ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and date above written

(my note: this David Williams is the brother to Lucretia Williams. His son and, therefore, Lucretia's nephew, David the younger, did die before reaching manhood. So,David the elder's property was dispersed to his brothers and sisters with Lucretia as executrix and then passed to her son Dr. Daniel Hudson as executor.)
